Some may say that alt rock and grunge is a thing of the past, but with flannels flying off the hangers at your local Goodwill store and the recent explosion of emerging artists that pay homage to the period, one cannot deny the genre lives on. Moxxie a female fronted quartet is one such band. However, they are believable, not a feeble copy and after one listen you’ll feel that you’ve discovered something straight out of 1994. With driving rhythm, soaring guitars and the vocals of Jessie Phelps, one would think that Mazzy Star got pissed and started writing songs in the vein of Veruca Salt. With several out-of-state bills lined up to close out 2016 Moxxie has quickly become one of the most recognizable rock acts in the Midwest.
